In 2005, the makers of Minute Maid and the Astros announced the Minute Maid Grand Slam For Youth Baseball Scholarship Program to assist greater Houston-area high school senior boys and girls with college expenses. Since the scholarship program inception, MMGSFYB has given more than 180 scholarships to Houston area high school seniors and 42% of these scholarships were awarded to first-generation students.

Minute Maid and Astros recognize
2016 Scholarship Recipients.

On June 18, 2016 Minute Maid and the Astros recognized the 25, 2016 Scholarship recipients at a special reception prior to the Cincinnati Reds game. Twenty five, $ 2,500 Scholarships were awarded to high school seniors, 14 boys – 11 girls. Eleven recipients are first-generation college students.

Since Minute Maid Grand Slam For Youth Baseball started the scholarship program in 2005, 261 scholarships and grants have been awarded totaling $700,000.
